The Promotora Program is an outreach model designed to help reach undeserved populations and enhance access to quality health care in rural Sussex County.LRHC's bilingual promotoras are certified medical interpreters who provide services for patients that have made appointments at both LRHC and other medical offices where bilingual resources are not available. By providing such services, LRHC assures that critical continuum of care referral services are completed and that no-show rates are minimized for other providers. LRHC's HIV/STD Prevention Outreach Testing and Counseling Services Staff have been trained and certified by Delaware's Division of Public Health to provide health education, risk education training, disease screening, counseling and case management referrals. LRHC's Health Ambassadors focus on reducing infant mortality by providing, health education, informal counseling and social support. LRHC's Ambassadors are available to teenagers, prenatal women and families. They take an active role in community events such as health fairs, and partner with organizations that provide services to adolescences and childbearing age adults |
